Unicode Block - Elymaic

Elymaic is a historical script used for writing the Aramaic dialect of the ancient kingdom of Elymais, located in what is now southwestern Iran, during the Hellenistic and Parthian periods, roughly the 2nd century BCE to the 3rd century CE. This right-to-left consonantal alphabet, which evolved from the earlier Aramaic script, appears on coins, rock inscriptions, and clay tablets, and it features distinct letterforms with some cursive tendencies. The encoded characters support the reproduction of its 28 letters, including several forms that vary by position within a word, along with a word separator and a numerical sign, enabling scholars to accurately transcribe and study the limited surviving corpus of this regional writing system.
