Unicode Block - Sharada
Sharada is a script historically used across Kashmir and parts of northern India for writing Sanskrit and the Kashmiri language, with its modern implementation preserving the traditional calligraphic forms of this ancient Brahmi-derived script. The encoded characters include vowels, consonants, vowel signs, various diacritical marks, and the distinctive headstroke that runs across the top of letters, along with punctuation and numerals. This script was primarily employed for religious manuscripts, official documents, and literary works before being largely supplanted by other writing systems, though its digital encoding now aids in the preservation and study of historical texts and enables contemporary use in scholarly and cultural contexts.
