Tagbanwa is an abugida script used historically for the Tagbanwa language on the island of Palawan in the Philippines, with its modern revival in cultural documentation. The script includes 18 consonant letters, three vowel signs, and a set of ligatures, along with a distinct punctuation mark resembling a cross. Its characters are written left to right, and unlike many other Philippine scripts, it does not use spaces between words, instead relying on a final consonant killer sign to indicate syllable-final consonants. The script’s forms are angular and derived from Brahmi influences, closely related to other indigenous Philippine writing systems like Baybayin and Hanunóo.
