Unicode Block - Toto

Toto is a relatively recent script addition used for writing the Toto language, spoken by a small community in the Indian state of West Bengal. It consists of a set of 31 letters, including distinct characters for vowels and consonants, along with a few diacritical marks for tone and nasalization, which are essential for accurately representing the language’s phonology. The script’s design is based on the traditional writing system developed in the early 20th century by a local scholar, and it was added to the computing standard to help preserve and digitally support this endangered language, enabling its use in modern communication and documentation.
