In a mixed-direction text, these characters establish a left-to-right base direction for their surrounding runs, meaning they are ordered visually from the left edge to the right edge, with their natural reading order unchanged. This class also influences how adjacent neutral characters, like spaces or hyphens, are resolved, since those neutrals take on the direction of the nearest strong character, which for a Left To Right character is left-to-right. Effectively, it ensures that words and sentences composed of these scripts display coherently without mirroring or reordering, even when embedded within right-to-left contexts, where they still maintain their original leftward progression.
