Other Uppercase is a character classification that identifies letters which are uppercase in form but lack a corresponding lowercase counterpart, distinguishing them from standard paired uppercase letters like "A" or "B". These characters, such as Roman numerals (Ⅴ), superscript capital letters, or certain phonetic and mathematical symbols, are inherently uppercase in their written usage but do not participate in the usual case mapping to lowercase forms. This property helps systems recognize these characters as uppercase for display, sorting, or text transformation purposes, ensuring they are treated consistently with conventional capital letters even though no lowercase equivalent exists.
