Script - Glagolitic
Glagolitic is a historical script created in the 9th century by Saints Cyril and Methodius to translate religious texts into Old Church Slavonic. It features distinct, angular letterforms, many with loops and circles, and was used primarily in Slavic regions, especially Croatia, before being largely replaced by Cyrillic or Latin. In digital text encoding, Glagolitic is assigned to the range U+2C00–U+2C5F for its letters, with additional combining marks and punctuation in adjacent blocks. This script value identifies characters used for writing Glagolitic, distinguishing them from other systems, and supports rendering and analysis of medieval Slavic manuscripts, liturgical texts, and modern scholarly notation. Its characters include uppercase and lowercase variants, with shapes that differ stylistically from later Cyrillic adaptations, preserving a unique paleographic heritage.
