Script - Jamo (alias for Jamo subset of Hangul)

Jamo (alias for Jamo subset of Hangul) is a script value used to classify the individual phonetic components of the Korean writing system, specifically the consonants and vowels that combine into syllabic blocks. These characters, known as jamo, are divided into initial consonants (choseong), medial vowels (jungseong), and final consonants (jongseong), and they appear in both modern and historic forms. The script encompasses the U+1100–U+11FF block for Hangul Jamo, as well as extended areas for archaic or obsolete jamo, and also includes the compatibility jamo found in U+3130–U+318F. By tagging these characters under this script, text processing systems can correctly identify them as distinct from the precomposed Hangul syllables, which belong to a separate script value. This distinction allows for accurate rendering, sorting, and linguistic analysis, especially when dealing with decomposed text or educational materials that teach the building blocks of Korean.
