Osage is a Unicode script value used for the writing system of the Osage Nation, an indigenous people originally from the central United States, now primarily in Oklahoma. This script was devised in the early 2000s by linguist and tribal member Herman Mongrain Lookout, based on the traditional Latin alphabet but with distinct letterforms and a unique ordering. It includes 21 consonants and 5 vowels, with some letters featuring diacritical marks to indicate tone and vowel length. The script is used for modern Osage language revitalization efforts, including educational materials and official tribal communication.
