Word Break - E Base GAZ
E Base GAZ is a specific value that identifies emoji base characters, such as human figures or body parts, which can be modified by emoji skin tone selectors. In word segmentation, this value acts as a boundary class that prevents breaks between the base emoji and any following variation selector or skin tone modifier, ensuring the entire sequence is treated as a single text unit. It also interacts with adjacent emoji modifiers (like the ZWJ sequence types) to maintain cohesion, so that a family or couple emoji built from multiple bases and joiners isn’t incorrectly split. By assigning this value, the algorithm correctly groups the base with its modifiers, but still allows a break between separate emoji sequences unless other rules, such as Extended Pictographic or Glue After ZWJ, override it for specific combinations.
