Word Break - Extend

Extend is a character class that includes non spacing combining marks, zero width joiners, and certain other format characters that are meant to be absorbed into the preceding base character for the purpose of word segmentation. When a word boundary is being determined, these characters do not start a new word on their own; instead, they are treated as part of the adjacent word, effectively extending it. This ensures that sequences like a base letter followed by diacritical marks remain a single word unit, preventing unwanted breaks between the base and its modifying marks. The Extend value also covers characters like the zero width non joiner and variation selectors, which are common in complex scripts, so that text processing algorithms can correctly identify word boundaries without splitting composite grapheme clusters.
