In text segmentation, characters marked as Other are treated as part of the same word when adjacent to other Other characters, but they typically break before or after a space or a more strongly defined boundary, like a line break or a punctuation mark. This ensures that unexpected or rare characters do not disrupt the natural flow of word boundaries, while also preventing them from merging with letters or numbers across a break. Essentially, Other acts as a safe default, enabling consistent and predictable word splitting even for obscure or newly added characters.
