U+1F590 "🖐" Raised Hand with Fingers Splayed Unicode Character

U+1F590 "🖐" Raised Hand with Fingers Splayed is a pictographic representation of an open human hand with the fingers separated, commonly used in digital communication to convey a gesture of stopping, greeting, or emphasizing the number five. It is distinct from the simple raised hand emoji (✋) by its inclusion of a visible palm and sometimes a subtle skin tone variation within its design. This character was added to the Unicode Standard in 2010 as part of the Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs block, allowing cross-platform encoding for a hand signal that often signifies a request to pause, a friendly wave, or a universal sign for "stop" or "hold on."
