U+A873 "" Phags-Pa Letter Candrabindu is a diacritic mark used in the Phags-pa script, a medieval alphabet designed by the Tibetan monk Drogön Chögyal Phagpa for the Yuan dynasty to write Mongolian, Chinese, and other languages. It resembles a lunar crescent shape and indicates nasalization of the preceding vowel, similar to the candrabindu symbol in the Brahmic scripts from which it is derived. This character is part of the Phags-pa block in Unicode, which was added to support the historical transcription of Yuan-era texts and linguistic research.
