U+0163 "ţ" Latin Small Letter T with Cedilla Unicode Character
Unicode Version 18.0
Source: Browser Default
U+0163 "ţ" Latin Small Letter T with Cedilla is a typographic variant of the letter T that features a small hook or cedilla attached beneath its stem, and it is primarily used in the Romanian and Gagauz languages to represent the voiceless alveolar affricate sound similar to the "ts" in "cats," as well as in some transliteration systems of Slavic languages. In modern Romanian orthography, however, this character has largely been replaced by the comma-below variant "ț" (U+021B), leading to ţ often appearing in historical texts or older digital fonts. Outside its linguistic role, the cedilla serves as a diacritic that can modify pronunciation, and the character also has a corresponding uppercase form "Ţ" (U+0162) for capitalization.
