This character represents the sound "th" as in the English word "the" and is the uppercase form of its lowercase counterpart, U+10590. It was added to the Unicode Standard in version 14.0, released in September 2021, as part of the Vithkuqi block (U+10570 to U+105BF). The script was created by the Albanian scholar Naum Veqilharxhi in the 1840s as part of a movement to develop a distinct national alphabet, and this letter is one of several historically reconstructed for modern digital encoding to preserve linguistic heritage.
